*** Average room rate with basic meal plan
The average in-state
student living in a residence hall pays approximately
$2,412 per quarter for room and board. He likely shares
a room with at least one other person whom he may or may
not get along with. He is not entitled to a parking space
without a permit and all other facilities, such as laundry
and recreation, are shared with the building.

The average
live-in Lambda Chi pays approximately $2,125 in the most
expensive quarter with regards to fraternity dues (other
quarters are as low as $250). He lives in a four-story
building with two floors of recreation and common area
that he shares with about 20 of his best friends. He has
his own room and potentially a parking space in the back
lot or convenient free parking on the street. He has every
opportunity to build leadership skills, gain responsibility,
work with a diverse group of people, and even win scholarships.
He pays $300 LESS than he would be paying for a residence
hall.
